Welcome to the Principal's Blog

Welcome to staff, students, parents and other blog visitors!  Hopefully this blog will provide current information for anyone interested in Noyes Elementary School.

Today, January 14, 2009, the main topic of concern is the bitterly cold weather.  On days when the temperature/wind chill is below 32 degrees, students do not have regular recess outside.  Some teachers of the older students will take them outside for a few minutes, if they have proper dress.  Most teachers have an "indoor" recess, where students play quiet games and visit.
Today when we arrived at school the temperature was 18 degrees with a very brisk wind.  The forecast says it will continue to be cold throughout the day and get even colder tonight.  Noyes students will not be outside for any recess time.
The SJSD policy on canceling school because of cold weather.  "The temperature must be 0 degrees with a negative 20 wind chill."  The decision is made early in the morning.  Watch Channel 41 for details or check the SJSD web page.
